Our Placement Process: From First Conversation to Hire

Family Consultation

We learn about your children, household, schedule, parenting approach, responsibilities, preferred experience, and the qualities you value in a caregiver.

Role Development

We help you create clear expectations for the position, including duties, schedule, compensation range, start date, and any experience or skills the role requires.

Candidate Search

We identify qualified, pre-screened candidates who have completed our review process and align with your family’s needs, schedule, location, and expectations.

Interviews and Evaluation

The family reviews selected candidate profiles and decides whom you would like to interview. This gives you an opportunity to explore experience, personality, caregiving approach, and overall fit before making a decision.

Selection and Hiring

The family makes the final hiring decision. We help clarify next steps so the family and nanny can begin with shared expectations about the role.

Families should ideally begin several weeks before their preferred start date. Searches involving specialized experience, unusual schedules, multiple children, extensive travel, or bilingual care may require additional time.

In a direct placement, your family hires and pays the nanny. Before care begins, we help make the role and expectations clear and can connect you with helpful payroll or household-employment resources if needed.

The timeline depends on the role, schedule, location, compensation, required experience, and caregiver availability. We prioritize finding an appropriate fit rather than sending a large number of candidates who do not meet your needs.

Yes. Families review selected candidate profiles and choose whom they would like to interview. The family makes the final hiring decision.

A paid working interview or trial may be arranged when the family and candidate agree. The candidate must be compensated for all time worked, and the schedule and expectations should be established in advance.

The family establishes the offered compensation with guidance based on the role’s schedule, duties, location, experience requirements, and market conditions. The nanny must be paid in compliance with applicable wage and employment laws.

A nanny’s primary responsibility is childcare. The role may include children’s meals, child-related laundry, activity planning, transportation, and organization when clearly included in the job description. General housekeeping or unrelated household duties should not be assumed.

VTV’s assistance, replacement terms, and any applicable limitations will be explained in the family placement agreement before the search begins. Families should contact VTV promptly if concerns arise so the situation and available next steps can be reviewed.

All placement fees and payment milestones will be disclosed before the family signs the placement agreement. No search should begin until the family understands the services included, payment terms, and applicable placement policies.
